Greetings My Friends and Family!
It seems like I haven’t talked to you since last year! Oh so many happenings have been happening. My heart and prayers go out to all of those in California and the devastating loss that they are facing with fires and drought. That kind of loss can only be understood by those who have experienced it. It makes my heart hurt. One thing I’d like to reiterate is we are, above everything else, family. Family help each other. If you are in need of help, reach out to us and we will come through for you. If you have a suggestion for helping before a request is made, please let us know so that we can put your plan into action.
With Christmas and New Year behind us, it seems that we are all back to our daily grind. Hopefully you are planning to attend our family reunion in Gettysburg? I know I am really looking forward to it! Meeting new people and hugging old friends, in a great location! What is there not to like and want to participate in?
This year we are supporting a scholarship for a person who is continuing their education! The application will be out in a few short weeks, so make sure that you keep your eye out for it and forward it on to someone who could use it. This is just one way the board of directors is reminding you that we are a membership organization for our members. If you like this idea, or have any others, please let me know! I am always up for a fun new way to make someone’s life a little easier.
Speaking of fun new ideas for bringing us together, we will be hosting an auction at the reunion. The details will be shared with you from your district rep, but it is too exciting for me not to tell you something about it. We - I - am asking that each of you donate a small object or non-perishable food item that represents your area or talent. These items will be gathered in district “Baskets” and auctioned at the Annual Reunion. For example, I might donate a small piece of stained glass I made; my daughter might donate a Claxton Fruit Cake (She lives in Claxton, Georgia, the fruitcake capital of the world!); a person who owns a vacation home may donate a weekend there. From funny to serious, the ideas and opportunities are endless! We are going to try to have an online auction so that everyone has the opportunity to bid. Keep an eye out for more about this!!
Finally, I can’t restate too often that the Wing Family of America is an organization made up of family volunteers for the growth and preservation of Wing Family heritage. The Board of Directors is always looking for more volunteers to carry on the good works and love of the family and its belongings. You have the expertise that keeps this family group growing.

Enjoy this picture of me and my favorite pets, Eloise and Abbigail in the 2nd snow we’ve received in the 25 years I’ve lived in South Georgia.
May God hold his protective hands around you as we explore the opportunities that 2025 has to offer.
From the Wing who ain’t quite right,
Mel
What a beautiful and uplifting letter. Thank you and all of the volunteers for what you are doing.
