The 2024 Wing Family of America Reunion in Sandwich, Massachusetts, was a resounding success thanks to co-chairs Sara Wing and Christina Shipps. All events but the Friday night dinner were held under the big tent in the back yard of the WFA History Museum.
Decorated with multicolored tablecloths and fresh flowers, this was the perfect spot for casual meals and lots of conversation for 132 members who attended from 13 districts.
Attendees explored the WFA History Museum, including the “Whaling Wings” exhibit and video, shopped at the gift shop or walked across the street to the Fort House to take a tour with caretaker Dave Wheelock and have a look at the Fort House garden with Amy McGuiggan. Thanks again to our co-chairs and we look forward to the 2025 WFA reunion in Gettysburg!
A couple of announcements from the Reunion (thanks to Gary Wing, District 8 rep):
First, would you like to delve deeply into your Wing Family ancestry? Our Genealogist, Mark Wing, related that there are nearly 250,000 names on the WFA tree! This is not a public tree, but if you will email him at Genealogist@wingfamily.org he will send you a password to get on the tree. It has some really great information.
Second, do you have any Wing ancestors who served in the military? WFA Historian Sharon Ahearn is asking for any information about Wing members who were veterans of wars from the 1700's to the present. Any information including documents, records or photos would be helpful. Please email Sharon at Historian@wingfamily.org.
